The team took a trip to Wilmington College, the home of the Quakers, this past Saturday to compete in the FinishTiming XC Classic. This competitive meet gave the majority of this year’s team the opportunity to compete for the first time this season in an open Girls Division I race. Many CGXC runners posted very strong initial times for the season, giving them a goal to work towards each week as they build in preparation for November. Despite the intensely hot and overly humid conditions for Saturday’s race, Centerville Girls Cross Country crossed the line swiftly in a tight pack, led by junior Megan Knauer with a time of 21:11. Finishing times for the leading runners across the line were:
Megan Knauer 21:11
Megan Kafka 21:29
Anna Botswick 21:31
Drea Scofield 21:38
Jessica Kimbrell 22:18
Kylie Boggs 22:19
Layla Emmert 23:06
Next up for CGXC is the Hot Summer Bash in Hilliard, OH next Saturday, September 3. It will be a great race for the entire team to compete together for the first time this season to show Ohio just how hungry this team is for another trip to the podium this year! #hungry4more
