Success at Spartan/Eaton

Centerville Girls Cross Country had a split weekend, with Varsity runners traveling to compete in the elite Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Michigan, and Junior Varsity competing at the beautiful Fort Saint Clair Park in Eaton, OH.

On Friday, Varsity runners at the Spartan Invitational in Michigan raced against a tough pack of Midwest athletes, and though they were looking for a repeat of their first place finish last year, the girls had to settle for third this race, leaving them certainly hungry for more at this mid-season mark.  Savannah Lowe lead her team to their third place finish with a time of 19:10 (26th), followed by Kelli Walsh 19:23 (32nd), Kerri Walsh 19:32 (41st), Rachel Whitehead 19:44 (53rd), and Sophie Hippenmeyer 20:23 (85th).

The remainder of the varsity girls competed in the open race in Michigan, with solid races by Drea Scofield 20:50, Megan Knauer 21:19, and Megan Kafka 21:24.

On Saturday, the Junior Varsity runners competed in the Eaton Invitational in scenic and historic Fort St. Clair Park, clocking in a fantastic first place finish in the Girls Open 5K.  Two Elk runners blew by the competition and sailed across the line in front, with freshman Kylie Boggs finishing first (21:43) and senior Brooke Greenlee taking second (22:21), once again showing the depth and talent of this team.

Next weekend, Centerville hosts the exhilarating Saturday Night Lights here at home in our very own stadium.  Boys and Girls races will be held all day long beginning at 2:15pm – see the link to the schedule below.  CGXC will race under the lights at 9:15pm, followed directly by the boys at 9:45pm.  Now is your chance to come out and support your State Championship Girls Cross Country Team and your Boys Cross Country Team, who are having an incredible season as well, all happening in our own backyard!  Be there this Saturday!  #EPND #hungry4more
