A sunny, brisk Saturday in October can mean only one thing – it’s time for the post-season cross country racing!  Centerville Girls Cross Country continued on their road to State this past Saturday in the OHSAA Southwest District Cross Country Championship Race on the campus of Cedarville University, where the top eight teams across the finish line advance to Regionals next weekend.  Centerville solidly earned that privilege, with a beautiful third place team finish.

Sophomore Grace Kilroy, who had been dealing with an injury for most of the season, was back on the course to race, and race she did on Saturday!  Kilroy sailed across the finish line with a dominating first place overall finish in an impressive time of 18:32.  Follow Kilroy’s lead, the top five scoring runners for Centerville all finished in the top 25 of this Southwest District race, securing third place and a trip to Regionals next weekend.  Finishing times and places for CGXC were as follows:

–          Grace Kilroy, 18:32 (1st)
–          Dalia Einstein, 19:45 (13th)
–          Sophie Hippenmeyer, 19:59 (18th)
–          Drea Scofield, 20:06, (21st)
–          Anna Bostwick, 20:11 (22nd)
–          Laura Drew, 20:28 (33rd)
–          Kylie Boggs, 20:38 (36th)

A huge shout out to the Centerville Boys Cross Country this past weekend for their commanding first place finish, capturing the District title on the same Cedarville course.

Both Centerville Girls and Boys Cross Country advance to compete in Regionals next Saturday in a scenic yet challenging run along the river in Troy, OH.  Take a short drive up the road next Saturday to cheer on your Centerville runners!  Race time for Boys Varsity is 12:30pm, and Girls Varsity takes to the course at 3:00pm.  Finish strong, runners!  #CGXC #hungry4more
