Back in Ohio, a shade closer to home, the remainder of the team competed in the Neal Charske Firebird Invitational Meet.  A few lingering injuries kept three runners from competing in this Varsity race in Kettering, but the four girls that were able to race certainly brought their A-game to the course, with a SB time by senior Megan Kafka and a PR-smashing finish by sophomore Claire Maxwell.  Finishing times for these four ladies were as follows:

Hannah Mangen, 20:28
Claire Maxwell, 20:53
Megan Kafka, 21:11
Leah Vanbyesterveldt, 22:29

In the JV Race, the Centerville Girls took an impressive 5th place finish, with strong performances and three SB times from the following runners:

Layla Emmert, 22:03 (sb)
Alex Jackson, 22:03
Priya Verma, 22:36 (sb)
Madison Earnest, 22:52
Muriel van Schagan, 23:14 (sb)

Most of the CGXC will take the next weekend off to enjoy Centerville Homecoming, with a racing option at Les Eisenhart in Columbus for those interested. The entire CGXC team takes to the field in just two weeks as Centerville once again hosts the GWOC Cross Country Championship races. Circle the date on your calendar, and don’t miss your chance to cheer on your Centerville Elk Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams as they look to capture the GWOC titles!  #BeTheChange
