Head Coach – Darcy Whyte

Coach Whyte is in her second year as Head Coach of the CGXC team. She is a former XC student athlete from Bellbrook, OH. After graduation, she ran XC and Track at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY, competing in the NAIA XC national championships all four years, obtaining athletic All-American Honors in 2012, as well as earning athletic All-American Honors in track 5 times between the 1000m (2x), mile, 3000m and on the DMR team, setting school records in all the events, along with setting the outdoor 1500 and 5K school records. Darcy graduated from the University of Findlay with her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies in 2016 and is currently working as a teacher at Legacy Christian Academy.

Asst. Coach – Doug Haines

Coach Haines is in his 1st year of coaching on the girl’s HS XC team. He is a highly experienced and passionate individual with a deep-rooted commitment to sports and education. As a collegiate swimmer for four years at Ohio Northern University, he developed exceptional skills and a strong sense of teamwork. Currently in his 29th year in Centerville City School, Doug has dedicated his career to teaching middle school students, providing them with valuable knowledge and guidance. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he has actively coached various middle school sports, including track, basketball, and golf. Furthermore, Doug has held significant roles as both a head swim coach and an assistant coach for local teams. He continues to compete in local triathlons where his love for the sport of running is still evident. With his extensive background working with students and athletes, he brings a wealth of expertise and enthusiasm to his latest venture as an assistant for the Centerville Girls Cross Country team, where he is excited to make a positive impact and support the team’s success.

Asst. Coach – Jessi T. Conley

Coach Jessi Conley is in her 1st season with the girl’s cross country program and has coached track at CHS for the last 3 seasons. Originally from Terre Haute, IN- she competed in cross country and track at Terre Haute North Vigo High School, competing on 8 State teams (4 cross/ 4 track). After high school, she continued her running career at Indiana State University, where she completed her degree in Exercise Science and earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors 4x and set a school record in the DMR twice. She currently works at Miami Valley Hospital North as a Team Lead Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Asst. Coach – Steve Perez

“Coach Steve” is in his second season as an assistant coach for CGXC. He began his running career at Beavercreek HS before running cross country and track at Wright State University. He then trained at Indiana University while obtaining an MBA, and finished his competitive running career under the guidance and coaching of 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist Bob Schul. Steve competed in distances from the mile to the marathon, and thanks in large part to many great coaches, ran well enough to be honored with induction into the Dayton Distance Running Hall of Fame in 2021. Steve enjoys coaching, and has coached rec. league baseball and basketball for many years. He still trains and competes in running, as well as multi-day paddleboard races. He is excited to be returning to help the team slay.
