General Practice Info

*Summer Conditioning begins in June each year – it is not mandatory but highly encouraged to start team bonding and prepare for the season!

*All athletes should take a full 2 weeks off after their spring sport ends before beginning training for XC this summer. Also, NO injured athletes should begin summer training until any acute injuries acquired from her spring sport are 100% healed. Injured athletes are still encouraged to attend practices to familiarize themselves with the practice process and engage in team bonding activities.

*When official practices start, they will be held Mon. – Fri. and athletes are to arrive in a timely manner so we can begin practices at their scheduled times. All athletes are expected to attend each practice. Practices should only be missed for emergencies, medical appts or conflicting academic responsibilities. Each athlete is responsible for communicating with coaching staff if she will not be attending a practice or meet PRIOR to missing said practice/meet.

*Athletes must participate in at least 10 practices prior to participating in a meet. This is an OHSAA rule put in place to ensure students are physically prepared for the vigor of racing.

*Athletes must complete practice on the Friday prior to the Saturday meet to be eligible to race on Saturday.

*If practice times/locations need to be adjusted during the season for any reason, coaches will send info out via ParentSquare.

*If practice is canceled due to weather conditions, coaches will send notification by 6:30am (for 7am practices) and 2:50pm (for 3:15/30pm practices). Once school starts, we will also try to notify the schools to let students know in the afternoon announcements.

*Canceled practices will NOT count towards the 10 practice requirement.

*REMEMBER – we will run in hot, cold and rain so athletes should be prepared for all conditions – for summer, having water and refueling snacks/liquid additives – for fall, we encourage dressing in layers!
